Winners Announced: Riverwalk Trail of Lights 2021

2021 Winners Announced:
Riverwalk Trail of Lights

Reindeer with holiday lights

The Riverwalk Trail of Lights 2021 was a huge success! A twenty-seven-mile ride through the neighborhood revealed more than 400 decorated homes. This celebration of light began in 2014 with the Riverwalk Garden Club. Prior to that year there were only a handful of decorated homes. Many more homes have been added to our oasis since then and has now grown into a beautiful drive of loveliness to add to the holiday spirit.

As chair for this event, I would like to thank Terrye Enderle, who served as judge chairman and Crystal Christopher who kept our map updated with newly lit homes almost daily. Thanks go to Dolph Selten, who took the ideas to the board, who in turn supported this event, on the website, marquee and supplying new signs and gift cards for winners. Thanks also to Sally Armitage with Spectrum who kept us informed of nominations sent her way.

A very special thanks to our five teams of judges, who carefully considered all of the gorgeous displays and painstakingly drove every street; some more than once, to award and choose from so many deserving displays. Each making sure they turned their entries into Terrye in a timely manner. The judges will remain anonymous but all of them are your neighbors who gave of their time, plus gas and gave careful consideration to arrive at their best decision of winners. Once ballots were turned in, Terrye tallied each of the teams’ winners to arrive at our winners.

The winners for 2021 are:

Un-fir-getable Exposition – 19490 Desna – who used creativity and imagination and followed a theme.
Griswold Explosion – 19443 Mersey Drive – who blew up the sky with lights and used over the top display of lights in an array of theme and color.
Silent Night Display – 19225 Kanawha – which was beautifully done, peaceful, or depicting a winter wonderland or using religious topics.

For those not awarded, note that some of the categories were very close! All awards were done by a point system entered individually by each team. We’ve included the map of participating houses below and hope that everyone has the chance to drive and enjoy all displays!

Hope you are thinking of your plans for next year!

Thanks,
Shirley Crowley
